Civic engagement is one of the most powerful ways to shape the future of a city, and in Goodyear, that spirit is alive and well. The city proudly celebrates the many ways residents show civic pride and help build a stronger community.
In the latest issue of InFocus, discover how residents are getting involved, including:
• Serving on Boards, Commissions and Committees:
Residents serve alongside one another on a variety of boards and commissions, helping guide decisions that shape Goodyear's future. From arts and culture to planning and zoning, parks and recreation, and more, these groups make important recommendations to the Goodyear City Council on projects and policies. Opportunities are available for a wide range of interests, and applications can be found at goodyearaz.gov/boardsrecruit.
• Teens Joining the Youth Commission:
Goodyear's future leaders are already making an impact today through the Youth Commission. This leadership program, held during the school year, brings together dedicated local high school students to learn about city operations and build leadership skills through hands-on community involvement. Members volunteer at city events, support service projects, and provide valuable input to city council on issues that matter to youth.
• Residents Taking the Time to Vote:
One of the reasons Goodyear is such a great place to live is the strong engagement of its residents. Civic involvement takes many forms-from volunteering and attending meetings to speaking up for change-but voting remains one of the most impactful ways to make a difference. In Maricopa County, the primary election is Tuesday, July 21. Goodyear voters will elect a mayor and three councilmembers, along with participating in state and federal party nominations.
