Replacement of a drainage channel at the foot of 11th Street is scheduled to begin on Aug. 19 with the installation of safety fencing.
The work is part of SANDAG's Del Mar Bluffs Stabilization Project, a multi-year program to improve drainage and strengthen the bluffs along the heavily traveled railway.
At 11th Street, replacing the culvert just east of the railroad tracks will involve two phases of construction and is expected to continue into October or November.
Phase 1 involves removing and replacing the existing concrete trench between 11th Street and Sea Orbit Lane; Phase 2 will replace the channel between 11th and 10th streets.
Limited access will be maintained as members of the public are reminded to stay clear of fenced work areas.
The bluffs stabilization program is scheduled to continue through mid-2027.
