New Marines are 'Transformed by Discipline, Determination, Teamwork, and Sacrifice' says National Security Minister LaRoda

NASSAU, The Bahamas -- RBDF New Entry 63 and Woman Entry 32 Passing Out Parade Ceremony at HMBS Coral Harbour, to the theme, 'Optimize Excellency by Bridging Generations and Modernization,' celebrated the transformation of 104 recruits into fully-fledged marines of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force.

The 62 males and 42 females -- completed a rigorous 20-weeks of training that began February 28, 2026 and led to this moment, July 17, 2026.

The highly organized ceremony was not short of naval formality or procedure.

The once new recruits, now newly graduated marines, diligently marched to the stage area as their names were called for their respective Certificates, Lanyards and Awards.

Minister of National Security, the Hon. Myles Laroda remarked: "To our graduates, today marks the end of one chapter and the beginning of another. Twenty weeks ago, you arrived as civilians from different backgrounds, each with your own aspirations and challenges. Today, you stand before us transformed by discipline, determination, teamwork, and sacrifice.

"Over the past five months, you have endured demanding physical and mental training. You have developed maritime skills, military discipline, weapons proficiency, crisis and disaster response capabilities, and an understanding of your responsibility to uphold the highest standards of integrity and professionalism. You have earned the privilege of wearing the uniform of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force.

"The Government of The Bahamas recognizes the critical role the Defence Force plays in protecting our nation's sovereignty, securing our maritime borders, responding to emergencies, combating transnational crime, and serving the Bahamian people whenever duty calls. As you begin your careers, remember that every action you take reflects not only on yourselves but on this proud institution and our nation."

He went on to thank all those responsible for the success of the graduating marines and the hopes of their future endeavors, and dedication to their jobs.

The ceremonious morning concluded with invocation.
