Yuma Salutes America’s 250: A Star-Spangled Celebration takes place April 18

The City of Yuma invites the community to come together for a day of music, family-friendly activities, and patriotic pride during Yuma Salutes America's 250: A Star-Spangled Celebration, happening Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 3 to 11 p.m. at Desert Sun Stadium (1280 W. Desert Sun Drive).

Held in honor of America's 250th birthday, this once-in-a-generation event places Yuma among communities nationwide commemorating this historic milestone, while offering a uniquely local experience designed to bring residents, families, and visitors together.

The event is scheduled in April to take advantage of Yuma's spring weather. Later in the year, the City will continue its annual Fourth of July celebration, which will feature an expanded fireworks display in recognition of America's 250th birthday.

The April event will feature live music beginning with hometown artist Bobby McClendon, followed by remarks from Mayor Doug Nicholls. MCAS Yuma's Color Guard will be present, along with a performance of the National Anthem by Wendy Lobeck McKay. The evening continues with Parmalee, followed by a patriotic drone show before Randy Houser takes the stage as the night's headliner.

In addition to live entertainment, attendees can enjoy a variety of food vendors, non-alcoholic beverages, and beer for sale, along with a dedicated kids zone.

Tickets are still available and may be purchased online at yumaaz.gov/america250, in person at the Parks and Recreation Department in City Hall, or at the event. General admission tickets are $25 plus taxes and fees, and children 12 and under are free.

"Yuma Salutes America's 250 is a great opportunity for the community to come together and enjoy live music, family activities, and a patriotic celebration," said Special Events Assistant Kathy Urfer. "We're excited to bring this event to Yuma as part of this historic national milestone."

To help ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all, a clear bag policy will be in effect. For added convenience, clear bags will be available for purchase in advance at the Parks and Recreation Department in City Hall, the Yuma Art Center, or at the event. General admission seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Guests may bring blankets and chairs for use on the field.

As you plan your visit, please note that outside food and beverages, including alcohol, glass containers, and coolers, are not permitted at the event. Small coolers needed for medically necessary items will be allowed and may be subject to inspection upon entry. Pets should be left at home, with the exception of service animals.

For everyone's safety, weapons are not allowed at the event. Security personnel will be present at entry points, and standard screening measures - including handheld devices - may be used upon arrival. The City appreciates everyone's cooperation in helping to maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all.
