JACKSON COUNTY - The Missouri Department of Transportation will be conducting a single lane closure on southbound Missouri Highway 291 over the Missouri River for utility work, beginning Tuesday, July 21 at 7:00 AM until Saturday, July 25 at 7:00 PM. Motorists may experience delays. All work is weather permitting.
This work is a part of a bigger project that will include replacement of the northbound bridge and rehabilitation of the southbound bridge. The northbound bridge (Liberty Bend Bridge) has been in use since 1949 and while safe, it is scheduled to be replaced to meet current design standards. Motorists are reminded to slow down and pat attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching, or mowing. They can also be short-term, temporary lane closures to make repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
