JEFFERSON CITY, MO, MARCH 19, 2026 - This year's Easter lineup is something to talk about. If you've been 'dyeing' for a reason to get outdoors, Missouri's state parks and historic sites are providing the perfect 'egg-scape.' Hundreds of treats have been hidden, and there's no license needed for these hunts.
Join our team members across the state for a day filled with fun. The following parks and historic sites are celebrating:
• Saturday, April 4 at 11 a.m.- Easter Egg Hunt at Hunter-Dawson State Historic Site.
Children up to age 10 are invited to hunt for more than 1,500 candy-filled eggs on the historic site's grounds. Children will be divided into four age groups during the hunt, and prizes will be awarded after the hunt. This event is free, and there is no need to register. Participants should bring their own basket or bag. Hunter-Dawson State Historic Site is located at 312 Dawson Road, New Madrid, Missouri.
• Saturday, April 4, noon - 3 p.m. - Easter Extravaganza at Johnson's Shut-Ins State Park.
Come celebrate the magic of spring during this free event at Johnson's Shut-Ins State Park. Activities will include egg hunts, crafts, scavenger hunts and more! Guests can make their own fairy wings at the event, or they can show up already dressed as your favorite magical springtime creature. Everyone is welcome, from fluttering fairies to dashing gnomes. Tote bags will be provided for the egg hunts, but you are welcome to bring a bag or basket of your own. The hunt will be held at the North Day-Use Area at Johnson's Shut-Ins State Park located at 148 Taum Sauk Trail, Middle Brook, Missouri. GPS coordinates are 37.547778, -90.843611.
• Saturday, April 4 at 1 p.m. - Easter Egg Hunt at Wallace State Park.
The public is invited to enjoy an afternoon of fun at Wallace State Park's annual Easter egg hunt. This event is free and open to the public, and there is no need to register. Starting at 1 p.m., all ages are invited to search for golden eggs hidden along the park's hiking trails to win a special prize. At 2 p.m., the traditional egg hunt begins with 3,000 candy- and toy-filled eggs scattered throughout the park. From 1-3 p.m., guests are encouraged to stop by the enclosed shelter before or after the egg hunts to check out some nature displays.
Wallace State Park is located at 10621 NE Highway 121, Cameron, Missouri.
• Saturday, April 4 at 6:30 p.m. through Sunday, April 5 at 3 p.m. - Easter Eggstravanza at Onondaga Cave State Park.
Come out to Onondaga Cave State Park during Easter weekend to take part in the park's Easter Eggstravaganza event. This family-friendly event is free and open to the public, and there is no need to register. Just show up and enjoy!
The fun begins on Saturday, April 4, with a showing of the 2011 movie "Hop." The showing will take place in the campground amphitheater starting at 6:30 p.m. Complimentary popcorn will be provided.
On Easter Sunday, there will be a variety of activities in and around the large picnic shelter. These will include crafts, games, nature stations, and two different Easter egg hunts: one for younger children and one for older children. These activities will be available from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Onondaga Cave State Park is located at 7556 Highway H, Leasburg, Missouri.
