Burkina Faso, Mali, and Senegal combined MY 2026/27 cotton area harvested is forecast to increase eight percent to 1.02 million HA, while production is forecast to increase 27 percent over the previous marketing year to 1.94 MT. These increases are primarily driven by Mali as its production recovers from the previous year's drop due to jassid infestation. The second largest cotton company in Burkina Faso, SOCOMA, has not yet confirmed whether it will resume activities in MY 2026/27 due to the security situation in the country. Combined MY 2026/27 exports are forecast at 1.9 million bales, a 10 percent increase compared to the previous year.
