Mexico: Cotton and Products Annual

Post forecasts marketing year (MY) 2026/27 cotton production at 0.66 million 480-lb bales, a 1 percent increase driven by a recovery in planted area. While production remains at historic lows, planted area is forecasted to increase 12 percent due to producers in Chihuahua returning to cotton from other crops. Domestic consumption is forecasted to remain stagnant, constrained by weakened demand and persistent competition from synthetic fibers and Asian yarn imports. Imports are forecasted to rise, while exports are expected to remain flat due to tight domestic supply and weak global prices.
