ATLANTA - Today, Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington) praised the Georgia Department of Transportation and Effingham County officials for their dedication to strengthening public safety with the installation of new traffic signals at the intersection of Highway 21 and McCall Road.

"The completion of this project represents the unwavering commitment of our community members, elected officials and state agencies to championing the safety and well-being of the citizens of Effingham County," said Speaker Jon Burns. "We know how dangerous this intersection has been, and I'm grateful for each individual who worked diligently to make this life-saving public safety improvement a reality for our community."

Additional plans to widen McCall Road for the addition of left-turn lanes and further improvements to the traffic signals are underway.
