The City of Santa Rosa was honored with the 2025 City of the Year award by the California Massage Therapy Council (CMTC) at the May 13 City Council meeting for its collaborative efforts to create a safer, more regulated massage therapy environment.
The recognition highlights the work of local residents, city officials, code enforcement and law enforcement personnel, massage professionals, and business owners who came together to develop a new ordinance that protects both clients and therapists.
CMTC representatives Ahmos Netanel and Mark Dixon praised Santa Rosa for exemplifying the goals of the California Massage Therapy Act, which encourages collaboration and best practices among local governments and the massage industry.
The award emphasizes the value of teamwork and positions Santa Rosa as a model for other cities to follow.
