HINESVILLE, Ga. - The Liberty County Development Authority (LCDA) will host a public information meeting on Tuesday, November 17, 2026, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Riceboro Youth Center, 5649 South Coastal Highway, Riceboro, Georgia. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.
The meeting will provide an update on the proposed Liberty County Water Reclamation Facility (WRF) project, including the latest environmental, engineering, and regulatory information being considered as LCDA evaluates the most appropriate location for the facility's reclaimed water discharge.
LCDA received a Georgia Environmental Protection Division wasteload allocation permit for discharge to the Laurel View River in March 2026. LCDA received wasteload allocation permits for two locations on the North Newport River in September 2026.
The November 17 meeting will follow the same format as previous community information meetings, with a presentation by LCDA and its project team, followed by an opportunity for residents to ask questions and provide feedback. The presentation will address the potential locations, environmental considerations, engineering evaluations, and regulatory requirements, providing residents with an opportunity to better understand the factors informing decisions to come.
No final discharge location has been selected, and no formal action will be taken at this public information meeting. LCDA remains committed to an open and transparent process that provides residents with access to the information being considered before a final decision is made.
"We believe it is important that our community has access to all the information being considered and an opportunity to ask questions and share concerns before a final decision is made," said LCDA Board Chairman and State Representative Al Williams. "We take our community's input seriously, and our responsibility is to make a well-informed decision grounded in sound science, environmental stewardship, and the long-term needs of Liberty County."
The proposed Water Reclamation Facility is part of LCDA's long-term infrastructure planning to address Liberty County's wastewater needs, support existing and future industries, accommodate responsible growth, and protect the area's natural resources and coastal environment.
For those unable to attend in person, the meeting will be livestreamed on LCDA's Facebook page at facebook.com/JobsInLiberty.
