Polk County Staff Responding to Sewer Main Break in Davenport

Published: November 2, 2026

BARTOW, Fla. (Nov. 2, 2026) - Polk County Utilities staff and contractors are responding to an ongoing sewage spill near Champions Gate Boulevard in Davenport. The spill began on Sunday morning after a 24-inch sewer main failed.

The same main previously failed in November 2025. Contractors began installing a replacement main in April. It is now undergoing testing and remains on track to be operational before the end of the year.

Crews have successfully diverted flow from the spill to a nearby retention pond.

Traffic has not been impacted by the repairs. Lane closures already in place for ongoing construction projects remain in effect.

An expected completion time for the repairs to the damaged main has not yet been determined. Updates will be provided as progress continues.
