London-Dentons has advised the National Wealth Fund on its investment of up to US$70 million (£52.6 million) in Nexeon Ltd, a leading developer of advanced silicon-based battery materials. The investment will support the expansion of the company's domestic operations, strengthening the UK's battery supply chain, creating jobs and boosting growth.
The National Wealth Fund's investment forms part of Nexeon's latest funding round, which is expected to raise a total of US$133 million (£100 million). It will support the development of Nexeon's UK-based pilot manufacturing facility, enabling the company to scale its advanced manufacturing technology unit and research and development capabilities.
The transaction was led by Projects Partner Torquil Law and Corporate Partner Adam Knowles, with assistance from Corporate and Projects associates Murray Newell, Mel Mahon and Karina Chopra and other Dentons UK colleagues from its Projects, Corporate, Environment, Competition, Employment and Pensions, and Technology, Media and Telecoms teams.
Torquil Law commented: "We are delighted to have advised the National Wealth Fund on this investment, which will help decarbonise supply chains, boost place-based investment, and strengthen sovereign capabilities - supporting all three of the National Wealth Fund's strategic ambitions."
