Whip Clark Statement on House GOP Cancelling Votes

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Democratic Whip Katherine Clark (MA-5) issued the following statement after House Republicans cancelled votes for a second week, prolonging a painful government shutdown:

"Republicans have spent the past week lying, vacationing, and posting bigoted memes - anything but actually showing up for work. Now, they're taking another week off and prolonging a harmful government shutdown.

"We know what their ploy is about: refusing to find bipartisan solutions to their health care crisis and release the full Epstein Files with the delay of Representative-elect Adelita Grijalva's swearing in.

"Democrats will be in Washington and ready to meet with them at any time to reopen the government, fund local hospitals, keep children on their health insurance, and stop premiums from doubling. It's up to Republicans to decide whether they will finally prioritize the American people over their billionaire buddies."
