Three sister organizations continue annual tradition of spreading mercy in Cedar Rapids community

Sister organizations Mount Mercy University, the Catherine McAuley Center, and Mercy Medical Center are continuing the tradition of spreading mercy in our community. Circle the City with Mercy is a one-day community service project with volunteers from each organization working toward a common cause.

Now in its ninth year, Circle the City with Mercy unites the three sister organizations for a unique annual service project, demonstrating their ongoing commitment to the Cedar Rapids community. The event also commemorates the arrival of the Sisters of Mercy in Cedar Rapids in July 1875.

This year's event will begin at 8:15 a.m. on Friday, July 24, with Mass at the Mercy Chapel, followed by a brief kickoff program at 8:45 a.m. in Mercy's Hallagan Education Center. Volunteers will then assemble 35,000 meals for Take Away Hunger. The meals will be distributed locally to the Boys & Girls Club and the Catherine McAuley Center.
