As Specialized Investigations Division detectives pursue strong and active leads in Sunday morning's gunfire outside Club La Danse on Rosa L. Parks Boulevard, the MNPD has developed a plan to pay close attention to the area around the business during any Cinco de Mayo celebrations tonight and beyond.
Included in that plan is a heightened police presence through enhanced patrolling of the Rosa L. Parks/Commerce Street corridor and the presence of a SkyCop trailer camera system.
"This police department and our city will not tolerate the violence displayed Sunday morning," said Chief John Drake. "Commander Rickey Bearden and his team at the Central Precinct, including the Entertainment District Unit, are working very hard to ensure the safety of downtown. Violent crime is down 30% in Central over the first four months of this year. We are committed to addressing problems quickly and appropriately to maintain the safety and uniqueness of Nashville."
