Peter Warren Singer, a New York Times best-selling author, will present NextTech: The Future of Technology, Security, and Threats at the University of Charleston on Thursday, March 19, at 6:00 p.m. in the Geary Auditorium, Riggleman Hall.
Singer is a strategist at New America and a Professor of Practice at Arizona State University. He has served as a consultant for the US Military, the Intelligence Community, and the FBI, as well as advised various entertainment programs, including HBO, Warner, and the video game series Call of Duty. He is a best-selling author of both nonfiction and novels. He is the founder and managing partner of Useful Fiction LLC, a company focused on strategic narrative.
Singer has been described as "the premier futurist in the national-security environment" by the Wall Street Journal and as an "all-around smart guy" in the Washington Post. He was named by the Smithsonian as one of the nation's 100 leading innovators, recognized by Defense News as one of the 100 most influential people in defense issues, listed by Foreign Policy among their Top 100 Global Thinkers, and designated as an official "Mad Scientist" for the U.S. Army's Training and Doctrine Command. No author, living or dead, has more books on the professional US military reading lists.
