April 2, 2026 - Whether you love to read, learn, create, or explore, find your joy at the Bettendorf Public Library during
National Library Week April 19-25, 2026!
To celebrate this year's theme,
Find Your Joy, the Bettendorf Public Library has several free events and activities:
Library Tours
Have you ever wondered how your returns get from the book drop back to the shelves? Or how to use a 3D printer? During National Library Week, staff members will walk you through library operations, take you behind-the-scenes, and showcase all the library's offerings - from reading materials to public meeting spaces to the Creation Studio. Registration is required and is open to all ages, regardless of library card status.
Creation Studio
Speaking of the Creation Studio, take a trip back to the 1990s with the library's old logo from before its current building was constructed! During National Library Week, patrons can visit the Creation Studio during
Open Work Hours to heat-press the old logo onto a shirt, sweatshirt, bag, etc. Patrons must provide their own material.
Guess the Outreach Vehicle's Name!
The library is getting an outreach vehicle in the coming months, which will reach beyond the library's physical space, ensuring every community member, regardless of mobility or transportation challenges, has access to the library's diverse collection, can sign up for a library card, connect to free Wi-Fi, and more. Can you guess what we're calling it? Stop by the Creation Corner during National Library Week, and complete our crossword puzzle to reveal the name! It will also be announced on the library's
Facebook and
Instagram pages, as well as its
website, on Wednesday, April 22.
First celebrated in 1958,
National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the
American Library Association and libraries of all types across the country to highlight "the valuable role libraries and library professionals play in transforming lives and strengthening our communities."
Whatever brings you joy, the library has something for everyone. Whether you are a regular, haven't visited in a while, or are curious about what the library offers, National Library Week is a great opportunity to explore the library's programs, services, and resources that ensure access to education, inspiration, and connection for all.
