A site that has been sitting vacant for decades next to one of the first churches in the United States, St. Luke's Episcopal Church, will have a new life as 49 affordable homes in the Dixwell neighborhood of New Haven, CT.
St. Luke's Whalley Avenue will not only provide affordable housing but a comprehensive transformation of its section of Whalley Avenue, for which the city and residents have been asking for decades. Co-developers The Glendower Group and St. Luke's Development Corporation (SLDC) will replace two service station sites and a 1920's era tire store with the new five-story building. All 49 units will be affordable at 30%, 50% or 80% of the area median income (AMI), and 20% of the units will be reserved for residents experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
