Fischer Secures Return of Over $10.3M to Nebraskans from the Federal Government in 2026 … So Far

OMAHA - Today, U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-NE) announced that so far, in 2026, her office helped secure the return of over $10.3 million to Nebraskans owed to them by the federal government through her casework services.

The dollar amount returned to Nebraskans is made up of money they have earned, or benefits owed to them by the Internal Revenue Service, Department of Veteran Affairs, the Social Security Administration, and other agencies.

"One of the most important parts of my job as Nebraska's senator is cutting through the bureaucratic red tape," Fischer said. "I'm so fortunate to have great staff across the state who work hard every day to get folks the money and benefits they have earned. I encourage any Nebraskan who needs assistance to contact one of my offices. We are here to help."

More than just dollars and cents :

Thomas, from Lincoln, Nebraska booked a last-minute trip to Scotland. He then realized that a country he would be connecting through required his passport to have six months validity beyond his travel dates. His current passport was set to expire before then, so he needed a new one quickly.

Even during the holiday season, Thomas received his passport in time and was able to keep his travel plans.
