City Museums to Close Sunday, January 25, Due to Forecasted Winter Weather

City museums will be closed Sunday, January 25, due to forecasted winter weather. The Office of Historic Alexandria asks all guests to check its website for updates.

The City is actively preparing for this weekend's winter weather and is monitoring updated forecasts and conditions. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning from 11 p.m. Saturday, January 24, through 4 a.m. Monday, January 26. Residents should plan now for the possibility of heavy snow, ice, and dangerously cold temperatures.

Prepare for winter weather

With temperatures expected to drop to dangerous levels, residents are encouraged to plan ahead and know where to go to stay warm. If needed, consider visiting a restaurant, shopping mall, community center, or local library.

  • Ensure pets have access to warm shelter, preferably indoors, along with adequate food and water.
  • Prepare your home with insulation, caulking, and weather stripping to keep out the cold.
  • Prevent frozen pipes by allowing faucets to drip, keeping cabinet doors open, and closing garage doors.
