Peregrine Falcon Nesting Season Update

Dairyland's Peregrine Falcon Restoration Program began in the 1990s with falcons fledging from nesting boxes placed at Dairyland's Alma and Genoa sites. This year, two new falcons - Doolittle (M) and Freydis (F) - are nesting in the Alma nesting box and have laid a clutch of four eggs, all of which have successfully hatched. This brings the total of falcons hatched from Dairyland sites to over 170!

The falcon chicks are expected to fledge the nest by the end of August with banding scheduled for June 9. You can follow the chicks' growth and progress toward fledging in real time through our Falcon Cam and learn more by about the Falcon Restoration Program here.
