Event organized by the Brazilian National Confederation of Industry (CNI) recognizes organizations that contribute to strengthening relations between Brazil and the United States
Gerdau, the largest Brazilian steel producer, was one of the organizations honored by the Brazilian National Confederation of Industry (CNI) during Brazilian Week 2026, held this week in New York, United States. The company received the Brazil-U.S. Industry Award, a recognition granted to companies that make a significant contribution to strengthening economic and industrial relations between the two countries.
The recognition reinforces Gerdau's leading role in the internationalization of Brazilian industry and its established presence in the North American market, where it operates long steel and specialty steel facilities to meet local demand. André Bier Gerdau Johannpeter, Chairman of Gerdau's Board of Directors, accepted the award on behalf of the company, in recognition that also values the company's trajectory and its contribution to expanding bilateral ties.
"Receiving this recognition reinforces the importance of our operations in the United States, where we have operated as a local company for nearly three decades, with production fully focused on meeting domestic demand. This model has been essential to strengthening our presence in the country and to building a solid, long-term relationship between the Brazilian and U.S. industries," Johannpeter said.
Gerdau maintains a strong operation in North America, with local steel production and a significant contribution to its global results, accounting for more than 75% of consolidated EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) in the first quarter of 2026. Its presence in the region is a key pillar of the company's internationalization strategy, supported by continuous productivity and modernization.
Since 1999, the company has been listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), a strategic step that strengthened its global expansion and operations in the North American market. The listing on the NYSE provides direct access to U.S. capital markets, reinforcing the company's commitment to transparency and value creation for its investors. Brazilian Week, which takes place from May 11 to 14 in New York, brings together business leaders and public authorities to discuss strategic topics on the bilateral agenda, such as trade, innovation, and sustainable industrial development.
