WASHINGTON - The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) today held a ceremonial swearing-in for Robert Cekada as the agency's new Director, marking his formal installation before ATF leadership, staff, and distinguished guests at the agency's Washington, D.C. headquarters.

The ceremony was held at 2:00 p.m. in the ATF headquarters atrium, where Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche administered the oath of office and signed and presented Director Cekada with his official badge and credentials, verifying his authorized status as Director of the ATF.

Cekada was confirmed by the United States Senate on April 29, 2026, and was officially sworn into office in a private ceremony on April 30, 2026. Today's event offered the broader ATF community, including personnel from across the agency's field divisions, the opportunity to mark the occasion and welcome their new Director.

Director Cekada expressed gratitude to his family, colleagues, and the men and women of the ATF workforce, reaffirming his commitment to the agency's core mission of reducing violent crime and upholding the rule of law.

"Every person in this agency, no matter what position you hold, contributes to the incredibly important mission we have to keep America safe," said ATF Director Robert Cekada. "I am extremely honored to lead ATF into the battle against violent crime."

Cekada brings more than 20 years of federal law enforcement experience to the role. As Director, he leads an agency of almost 5,000 employees, including special agents, investigators, and professional staff, operating across more than 25 field divisions nationwide and in international offices around the world.
