Green Deal Funding Alert - March 2026

This is the latest edition of the Green Deal Funding Alert, a monthly newsletter that keeps you informed about funding opportunities and initiatives that support sustainable development and the transition to climate neutrality. This month's edition highlights fresh opportunities for local and regional authorities to secure tailored support for climate adaptation, boost innovation in urban challenges and apply for new EU funding to accelerate sustainable solutions for healthier soils and more resilient communities.

1. EU Mission offers custom support for local adaptation projects

Do you need help getting your climate adaptation project ready for investment?

Under the EU Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change, Mission Charter signatories can now request customised assistance to advance their adaptation initiatives towards obtaining financing. This support helps enhance project readiness, analyse costs and benefits, strengthen financial design, and connect with potential investors. Assistance is tailored to each project's needs, delivered remotely, and can include developing a project concept, preparing investor-ready documents and building a financing strategy.

Deadline: 17 April 2026

2. EUI - Innovative Actions: Fourth Call for Proposals is now open!

Are you a city ready to test bold, locally-driven solutions to today's urban challenges?

The fourth EUI - Innovative Actions call provides a provisional budget of EUR 60 million from the ERDF, offering up to EUR 2 million per project for cities with more than 25 000 inhabitants. Projects must be ready to implement and capable of delivering measurable results within a maximum duration of two years. This call introduces an updated framework supporting cities in developing innovative solutions across six thematic areas, from competitiveness and digitalisation to climate action, housing, mobility, and social inclusion.

EUI is offering extensive applicant support, including guidance documents, thematic labs, national information events, and online Q&A sessions.

Deadline: 15 June 2026 (14.00 CET)

The call focuses on translating research and innovation into practical, deployable solutions. It includes one topic and follows the standard Horizon Europe evaluation and grant procedures, with results expected within five months after submission.

Projects must take place in the territory of at least three different regional or local authorities, each established in a different Member State or Associated Country.
