The ceremony also recognised 202 candidates who successfully completed their CGMA exams, bringing them one step closer to becoming CGMA qualified. In addition, 14 prize winners received special recognition for their outstanding performance.

The event took place at BMICH Colombo in the presence of John Graham, FCMA (UK), CGMA, the 92nd CIMA President and 10th Co-Chair of the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants as the Chief guest, and Bingumal Thewarathanthri FCMA (UK) CGMA, Chief Executive Officer, Standard Chartered Bank Sri Lanka, Vice Chairperson of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce as the Guest of honour.

John Graham, CIMA President and Co-Chair of the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants, said:

"It was a fantastic honour to be present at the convocation ceremony and a true privilege to welcome a new generation of accounting and finance professionals into our global CGMA community. Having spent many years in the profession, I never fail to be impressed by the commitment, passion and determination shown by aspiring CGMA designation holders. They are future leaders, equipped to meet the demands of today's rapidly evolving business environment and to drive innovation, integrity, and excellence. I wish them every success as they continue their professional journey - they are the future of finance and will help CIMA shape the future of the profession."

Venkkat Ramanan, FCMA (UK), CGMA, Vice President - Asia Pacific, at the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants added:

"A heartfelt congratulations to all our newly qualified CGMA professionals in Sri Lanka. Earning this designation takes real commitment - and in a market as dynamic as this one, that commitment means something.

The finance profession is changing faster than at any point in my career. What sets CGMA professionals apart is not just technical rigour, but the ability to connect numbers to decisions that matter - to organisations, to people, and to the communities they serve.

To each of you: welcome to a global community of professionals who take that responsibility seriously. I'm genuinely proud to see Sri Lanka producing talent of this calibre, and I look forward to watching what you build from here."

Tharindu Wijewardana, ACMA(UK), CGMA, Country Head - Sri Lanka, Association of International Certified Professional Accountants, said:

"Congratulations to every candidate celebrating today. Your CGMA designation opens doors not just across Sri Lanka's recovering economy - in our emerging tech sector, expanding multinationals, and growing entrepreneurial landscape - but across global markets. As Sri Lankan finance professionals, you carry a unique advantage: the resilience forged through navigating one of the region's most challenging economic transitions, combined with world-class technical expertise. That combination makes you invaluable. To those who completed exams today - you're almost there. To our newly qualified CGMAs - the opportunities ahead of you, both here and globally, have never been greater."
