The City of Norman received $100,000 in emergency grant funding from the Oklahoma Water Resources Board (OWRB), which will go toward reimbursement of a repaired aerial sewer line crossing over Bishop Creek south of East Lindsey Street. The line failed following substantial flooding in May 2025.
"We are grateful for the support and collaboration of the OWRB, always," said Utilities Director Chris Mattingly. "Their programs and resources are a tremendous benefit to the Norman Utilities Authority and our entire community."
The repaired line includes drilled pairs to help support the crossing, Utilities staff said, something that will ensure its stability for decades to come.
Earlier this year, the City of Norman also received $2 million in OWRB grant funding for general infrastructure improvements. Since 1983 the OWRB has approved over $8.3 billion in loans and grants for water and wastewater infrastructure improvements throughout Oklahoma.
