The U.S. Department of Agriculture Nebraska State Director Neil Moseman announced a $75 million Community Facilities Direct Loan to Community Hospital Association (CHA) in McCook. The expansion project will add more than 70,000 square feet to their campus, including a new McCook Clinic, an expanded cancer center and improvements to the central utility plant.
"It is important that rural residents have access to modern healthcare services, and Rural Development is excited to partner with CHA to update its healthcare facility in McCook," said Moseman. "The Trump-Vance Administration continues to invest in rural infrastructure, helping communities gain access to modern healthcare services and other essential resources."
Rural Development financing will help CHA add 55,000-square-foot to its McCook clinic, construct an 11,235-square-foot cancer center addition, and replace and expand the central utility plant by 7,680 square feet. These improvements will strengthen the hospital's ability to provide accessible, safe, and comprehensive care to residents of the service area. By expanding clinical and cancer-care capacity locally, the investment will help meet the healthcare needs of the service area's more than 30,000 residents.
"We have worked with Rural Development for many decades to replace aged facilities and add space for new services," said Community Hospital Chief Executive Officer Troy Bruntz. "This is the next chapter in our continued pursuit to provide the space and services necessary for southwest Nebraska and northwest Kansas to live a healthier future. We are very appreciative of USDA's trust in us and the work they have done to get us to this point."
USDA Rural Development administers this funding through the Community Facilities Direct Loan Program , which provides affordable financing to develop essential community facilities in rural areas.
