LAUNCH OF THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS STRATEGIC PLAN 2026-2030
Prime Minister Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim today launched the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Strategic Plan 2026-2030, in conjunction with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs MADANI Iftar Event 2026 hosted by Minister of Foreign Affairs Dato' Seri Utama Haji Mohamad Haji Hasan.
The Strategic Plan 2026-2030 is anchored in the vision and framework of Malaysia MADANI and builds on the nation's foreign policy direction. The Plan aligns with the MADANI Economy framework, Thirteenth Malaysia Plan (RMK13), and Public Service Reform Agenda (ARPA), ensuring coherence between foreign policy implementation and national development priorities.
The Strategic Plan is structured around eight (8) Strategic Thrusts, supported by 33 strategies and translated into 139 programmes. They are focused on strengthening bilateral and multilateral diplomacy, advancing Malaysia's proactive role in ASEAN, safeguarding sovereignty and maritime interests, enhancing public diplomacy and service delivery, strengthening institutional capacity, and reinforcing Malaysia's obligations under the Chemical Weapons Convention.
The Strategic Plan also reflects Malaysia's achievements as ASEAN Chair in 2025, and builds on them to reaffirm Malaysia's commitment to strengthening ASEAN Centrality and advancing regional cooperation. The Strategic Plan 2026-2030 manifests the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' steadfast commitment to ensuring that Malaysia's diplomacy remains relevant, responsive and credible in an increasingly complex global environment.
Through this Strategic Plan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with Malaysia's Diplomatic Missions abroad, will continue to advance effective diplomacy to safeguard Malaysia's interests, support national development, and ensure that Malaysia's voice remains respected and credible on the global stage.
