FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
April 14, 2026
(HARTFORD, CT) -On April 13, 2026, the Connecticut Insurance Department (CID) hosted a virtual information session for PHL Variable Insurance Company policy and annuity holders, providing updates and answering questions about the ongoing receivership process.
The session offered policy and annuity holders an overview of the PHL status, including the role of the court-appointed receiver, the claims process, and what can be expected in the coming months. The Department also addressed a range of questions submitted in advance. A recording of the information session is available on the CID's PHL website for those who were unable to attend.
"This remains a challenging and uncertain time for many PHL policy and annuity holders," said Insurance Commissioner Josh Hershman. "Our priority is to provide clear, accurate information and help people understand where things stand today, what protections are in place, and what steps may come next. We will continue to share updates and make ourselves available as this process moves forward."
Consistent with our commitment to effectively communicate important information about the PHL receivership, the CID has updated its PHL website landing page, which now includes the option to select a new, simplified page designed for PHL policy and annuity holders, or our original page, which includes detailed information about the receivership. The policy and annuity holder page has been structured to make information easy to find and understand.
The CID encourages all PHL stakeholders to visit the CID's PHL website for the latest updates and answers to frequently asked questions. Updated frequently asked questions that reflect information shared during the information session and the latest developments will be available shortly. In addition, stakeholders are encouraged to submit feedback on the session via email to [email protected].
For more information or to access the session recording, visit the CID's PHL webpage.
