The Sparks City Attorney's Office has secured multiple misdemeanor theft convictions, resulting in the items being recovered or businesses being awarded restitution. The City Attorney's Office remains focused on the "Back Our Businesses" initiative.
Below are a few cases from February in which criminal prosecutors in the Sparks City Attorney's Office specifically sought firm consequences for intolerable actions. A Sparks Municipal Court judge imposed the following sentences after convictions:
On February 10, 2026, Sheena Shepherd was sentenced to serve two consecutive terms of 90 days in the Washoe County jail, suspended on the condition that she stay away from the Outlets at Legends, Sephora, and Scheels, and obey all laws. Originating from an incident that occurred on February 6, 2026.
On February 19, 2026, Kevin Benline was sentenced to 45 days in the Washoe County jail, suspended on the condition he pay $733.58, obey all laws, and stay away from Target and the Outlets at Legends. Originating from an incident that occurred on February 18, 2026.
On February 23, 2026, Anthony Wheeler was sentenced to serve 90 days in the Washoe County jail, concurrent to his other felony charges. Originating from an incident that occurred at TJ Maxx on February 7th, 2026.
On February 26, 2026, Buddy Gray was sentenced to serve 45 days, active in the Washoe County jail. Gray remained in custody on other felony charges. Originating from multiple incidents that occurred at Walmart on January 8th and 11th, 2026.
On February 26, 2026, Tamara Wempner was sentenced to 180 days of Washoe County jail, suspended on the condition she stay away from the Outlets at Legends, obey all laws, and abstain from drugs and/or alcohol. Stemming from an incident that occurred on January 15, 2026.
