Georgia DOT awards 22 projects worth $54.8 million in contracts for August
ATLANTA - The Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) awarded a total of 22 projects valued at approximately $54.8 million at the monthly State Transportation Board meeting held in August. Contracts were awarded to the lowest qualified bidders on September 4, 2026.
The largest single investment resurfacing project, valued at approximately $4.7 million, proposes 4.92 miles of milling, inlay, and plant mix resurfacing on State Route (SR) 8 beginning north of the bridge over Ronald Reagan Parkway and extending to Lawrenceville Suwanee Road in Gwinnett County. This contract and 12 other resurfacing projects total approximately $38.2 million and represent 69 percent of the total funds awarded.
The largest single investment construction project, valued at approximately $4.3 million, proposes the construction of a roundabout on US 29 Business/SR 8/SR 53 at Jackson Trail Road (County Road 139) in Barrow County. This contract and three other construction projects total approximately $10.9 million and represent 20 percent of the total funds awarded.
The largest single investment safety project, valued at approximately $2.4 million, proposes intersection improvements on SR 42 at United Avenue (City Street 2199) and Skyhaven Road (City Street 2935) in Fulton County. This contract and two other safety projects total approximately $3.6 million and represent seven percent of the total funds awarded.
The largest single investment bridge rehabilitation contract, valued at approximately $1.7 million, proposes bridge rehabilitation at various locations in Berrien, Brooks, and Lowndes counties. This contract and one other bridge rehabilitation project total approximately $2.1 million and represent the remaining four percent of the total funds awarded.
The Award Announcement list for August (includes withdrawn projects). Bids for Design-Bid-Build projects were received on August 21, and contracts were awarded to the lowest qualified bidders on September 4, 2026.
A Supplemental Award Announcement was made on September 3. The announcement includes previously deferred projects that have now been awarded. Contracts were awarded to the lowest qualified bidders.
The August awards bring the total construction contracts for Fiscal Year 2027, which began on July 1, 2026, to approximately $316.2 million. This total includes TIA, Design-Bid-Build, and locally administered projects. Fiscal Year 2027 will conclude June 30, 2027.
