WASHINGTON, DC - Representative Eric Sorensen (IL-17) released the following statement after voting no on H.R. 1958, the Deporting Fraudsters Act of 2026.
"My neighbors work hard to earn a living, and anyone committing fraud with our tax dollars should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Today, I voted for legislation to ensure that anyone committing this type of fraud is held accountable for their action," said Congressman Eric Sorensen. "I won't stop fighting for real safeguards to rein in Trump from using ICE as his personal police force."
Congressman Eric Sorensen represents Illinois' 17th District in the United States House of Representatives. Prior to serving in Congress, Sorensen was a local meteorologist in Rockford and the Quad Cities for more than 20 years. His district includes Illinois' Quad Cities, Rockford, Peoria, and Bloomington-Normal.
