Iran – Summoning of the Ambassador (10 January 2025)

The Islamic Republic of Iran's Ambassador to France was summoned to the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs on 10 January 2025.

He was reminded in the strongest terms of our demand for the immediate release of the French nationals who are hostages of Iran. Their situation is intolerable, with shameful conditions of detention which, in some cases, fall within the sphere of torture under international law.

The French authorities remain totally mobilized to secure the release of our compatriots and support their families and close friends.

In this context, French nationals are advised not to travel to Iran; those already passing through it are advised to leave Iranian territory immediately due to the risks of arrest and arbitrary detention.
