Jakarta, 29 July 2025: ERIA has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Asiatic Research Institute (ARI) at Korea University. The agreement establishes a collaborative framework to enhance cooperation through joint research, education, and policy initiatives grounded in equality and mutual benefit.

The partnership will focus on key areas such as ASEAN and East Asian economic integration, sustainable development, and regional security. The MoU facilitates the exchange of information and research findings, promotes collaboration on relevant research topics and policy recommendations, and supports the dissemination of research outputs to policymakers. It also encourages the co-sponsorship and co-hosting of events and workshops to deepen institutional cooperation.

Coinciding with the signing, ERIA welcomed a delegation from the CMK School of ASEAN Studies, organised by the Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-Koo Foundation and the Korea University ASEAN Centre. The visit offered participants the opportunity to engage directly with ERIA researchers and gain insight into ASEAN-Republic of Korea cooperation and regional policy development.

Two senior researchers delivered lectures focused on energy-related policy and research. Dr Venkatachalam Anbumozhi, Senior Research Fellow for Innovation, presented ERIA's work on policies and strategies for green economic transformation in ASEAN and beyond. Dr Han Phoumin, Senior Energy Economist, discussed pathways toward net zero in Asia, highlighting the progress of countries such as Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand in implementing carbon pricing and market mechanisms, and their roles in regional emissions reduction efforts.

The visit also featured Yun-hwan Jeong, an intern at the Asia Zero Emission Center and a graduate of the CMK School of ASEAN Studies, who shared his personal experiences working at ERIA.

These activities reflect ERIA's broader role not only in shaping regional policy but also in nurturing the next generation of scholars and professionals across East Asia.
