Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Mohamed Saeed, attended the inauguration ceremony of scheduled seaplane flights to N. Velidhoo, marking a significant milestone in the Government's efforts to strengthen nationwide connectivity.
The introduction of seaplane services to Velidhoo fulfills a commitment made by His Excellency President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu to enhance air transport links to islands across the Maldives. With this launch, Velidhoo becomes the third island to be connected through seaplane operations under the Nationwide Air Connectivity Project.
The Nationwide Air Connectivity Project is a key government initiative aimed at improving accessibility, reducing travel time, and supporting balanced regional development. By expanding air transport services to outer islands, the project seeks to unlock new economic opportunities, improve access to essential services, and enhance the quality of life for island communities.
