EAGLE PASS, Texas - U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Eagle Pass Port of Entry intercepted a significant load of cocaine, seizing 46.55 pounds of the illicit narcotic.

CBP officers seized 46.55 pounds of cocaine with a street value of more than $275,000.

The seizure occurred on Nov. 2, at the Camino Real International Bridge II import lot when a CBP officer encountered a commercial Nissan truck driven by a Mexican national presenting a B1/B2 visa. The vehicle was referred for a nonintrusive inspection. Scanning of the vehicle revealed anomalies. A physical inspection, aided by a CBP K-9 team, led to the extraction of 20 packages hidden within the vehicle. The narcotic yielded positive results for cocaine; and scale measurements confirmed a total weight of 46.55 pounds, with a street value of more than $275,000.

"Frontline CBP officers demonstrated exceptional vigilance during this enforcement action," said Pete Beattie, port director, Eagle Pass Port of Entry. "This successful interception underscores our ongoing commitment to securing our borders and protecting our communities from dangerous narcotics."

CBP seized the narcotics and the commercial truck. Homeland Security Investigations special agents responded to conduct the investigation. The alien subject was found inadmissible pursuant to Section 21 USC 952 (Unlawful Importation of Controlled Substances), processed for Expedited Removal and Visa Cancellation, and returned to Mexico.

Under the leadership of President Donald J. Trump and Department of Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin, the dedicated men and women of U.S. Customs and Border Protection, alongside our law enforcement partners, have arrested and removed thousands of criminal aliens from the country - including gang members, rapists, kidnappers, and drug traffickers - to make our communities safer.
