In an effort to ease financial burdens and promote holiday activities, the Bureau of Land Management announced that it is reducing fees for personal-use Christmas tree and firewood permits through Jan. 31, 2026.
Under a new Secretarial Order issued by the Department of the Interior, Christmas tree permits will now be available for $1 per tree, and firewood permits for $1 per cord, across all BLM-managed lands. The initiative is part of a nationwide effort to provide economic relief during the holiday season while encouraging responsible forest management.
In addition to reduced fees, the BLM is increasing household limits:
Permits can be purchased online or at local BLM field offices.
All safety regulations, including fire prevention and Leave No Trace practices, remain in effect.
