Congressman Evans Introduces Resolution Condemning the Antisemitic Terrorist Attack in Boulder

WASHINGTON - U.S. Congressman Gabe Evans introduced a House Resolution today condemning the June 1, 2025 antisemitic terrorist attack that occurred in Boulder, Colorado calling for enhanced vetting procedures and stressing the importance of communication between state and local law enforcement in sanctuary states like Colorado.

This resolution formally denounces the attack and expresses appreciation to law enforcement including U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for their role in keeping Americans safe.

"The terrorist attack in Boulder is another example of why Colorado's sanctuary states are dangerous to the safety and wellbeing of Americans," said Congressman Gabe Evans. "Local law enforcement must be able to work with federal immigration authorities to keep Coloradans safe, and we must condemn all acts of antisemitism at every opportunity, not just after attacks like this."

"Sunday's terrorist attack in Boulder was yet another strike against our Jewish community," said Congressman Jeff Crank (CO-05). "I will not sit idly by as our friends are attacked for their religious and political beliefs. I am heartbroken for the victims and will always choose to condemn violence and hate. However, this tragedy could have been prevented. Governor Jared Polis and the Colorado Bureau of Investigations were on notice he was here illegally when he failed a background check to buy a gun, yet did nothing to notify ICE. Instead, they handed him a driver's license. Colorado state lawmakers need to do better. It's time to wake up."

"I fully condemn Sunday's attack in Boulder," said Congressman Jeff Hurd (CO-03)."This was a cowardly and reprehensible act of antisemitic terrorism. My prayers are with the victims and with Colorado's Jewish community. We must stand united against this kind of hate. This attack is yet another tragic consequence of Biden and the Democrats' failed immigration policies and open borders. Our nation must act decisively to secure the border and protect our communities."

"This abhorrent act of targeted terrorism committed by a criminal illegal alien is a perfect representation of all that went wrong under the Biden Administration," said Congresswoman Lauren Boebert (CO-04). "From progressives stoking anti-semitism to a failure to enforce immigration laws, this all should have been avoided. I stand with my Colorado Republican colleagues in condemning this terrible, targeted act of terror, supporting the Jewish community in this time of fear and uncertainty, and ensuring we will work with the Trump Administration to remove criminal aliens and terrorists like Mohammed Sabry Soliman from our country."

Background:

On Sunday, June 1, 2025, Mohammed Sabry Soliman used Molotov cocktails to violently attack demonstrators in Boulder who were peacefully rallying in support of the release of Jewish hostages held by Hamas.

Soliman was an illegal immigrant residing in Colorado Springs and was granted a valid driver's license by the state DMV. Colorado's refusal to allow local law enforcement to cooperate with federal immigration authorities highlights the danger of sanctuary policies, and is a contributing factor to the state's rising crime rates which now rank second in the nation. Without Colorado's sanctuary state laws, this attack could have been prevented.
