CARBONDALE - The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that a culvert replacement in Williamson County will require a weekend closure of Illinois 37 in both directions, just 3 miles south of Marion between Reservoir Road and Freedom Road, starting at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, weather permitting.

A posted detour utilizing Illinois 148 and Interstate 57 will be in place to safely guide motorists around the closure.

The work is expected to be completed by 6 a.m. Monday, Sept. 14.

Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changing conditions and all detour signs prior to the work zone, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
