GridLiance West’s Transmission Upgrades Project Breaks Ground to Strengthen Nevada's Electric Grid

Major transmission investment will modernize existing infrastructure, create approximately 500 construction jobs and help meet Nevada's growing energy needs

JEAN, Nev. -- GridLiance West, a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Transmission, LLC, today joined federal, state and local leaders to celebrate the start of construction on the GridLiance West Core Upgrades Project, approximately 155 miles of new 230-kilovolt and 500-kilovolt transmission lines and new and upgraded substations in Nevada that will enhance the reliability of the electric grid and support the state's continued economic growth.

Why it matters
The GridLiance West Core Upgrades Project represents a long-term investment in Nevada's energy future. Designed to replace existing infrastructure and expand transmission capacity, the transmission upgrades will help ensure homes, businesses and industries have access to reliable and affordable electricity for decades to come.

When completed in mid-2028, the expanded transmission network will unlock access to additional energy resources, create opportunities for new industrial investment and generate tax revenue for local communities that will help support schools, emergency services and public infrastructure.
