Tompkins County Introduces New Induction Cooktop Initiative Through the Healthy Neighborhoods Program

Tompkins County Department of Planning and Sustainability, in collaboration with Tompkins County Whole Health, is pleased to announce a new offering through the Healthy Neighborhoods Program (HNP). This new initiative will provide free induction cooktops and cooking supplies to participants in the program. The induction cooktop initiative is made possible by a grant received through the Clean Energy Communities Program, which supports local governments in implementing energy-efficient practices. 

HNP provides free home safety visits to promote healthy homes, educate residents, and create healthier living environments, among other programs. This new program will provide eligible residents who currently use gas stoves with a single burner induction cooktop, along with a pot and pan, at no cost to participants. This initiative aims to help households transition away from fossil fuels, reducing indoor air pollution and promoting healthier cooking practices. 

Residents who meet the program requirements will have the opportunity to receive the induction cooktop and cooking essentials, contributing to a cleaner and healthier home environment. This new offering aligns with Tompkins County's commitment to sustainability and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
