Piedmont Athens Regional invites community to Pink Party with a purpose
Athens, Ga. (September 14, 2026) - Piedmont Athens Regional Community Garden will turn pink on Sunday, Oct. 4, as Piedmont Athens Regional hosts Pink Party with a Purpose, a free community event focused on breast cancer awareness, education and support. The event will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. in the community garden, located at 285 Talmadge Drive.
The family-friendly event will bring together community members, breast cancer survivors, patients, caregivers and healthcare professionals for an afternoon of education, connection and celebration. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with Fiona Denham, M.D., and Katie Moore, M.D., breast surgeons at Piedmont Athens Regional, and learn more about breast health, mammography services and the comprehensive support resources available to patients and caregivers.
"As breast surgeons, we have the privilege of walking alongside patients during some of the most challenging moments of their lives," said Dr. Denham. "Events like this allow us to connect with the community outside the clinical setting, share important information and help people take proactive steps to protect their health."
The afternoon will feature a wellness stroll from 2:30 to 3 p.m. with Drs. Denham and Moore, followed by Tai Chi in the park from 3 to 3:30 p.m. From 3 to 4 p.m., attendees may tour the Loran Smith Center for Cancer Support and Griffin-DuBose Healing Lodge, Piedmont Athens Regional Breast Health Center and shop at the Beautiful You Boutique.
Other hands-on activities will include creating Kindness Rocks with words of encouragement, strength and purpose; decorating pumpkins in pink to serve as reminders of breast cancer awareness throughout October; and learning how to make a pink ribbon wreath or survivor bell with demonstrations from members of the Piedmont Athens Regional Auxiliary. Attendees may also sign a breast cancer awareness ribbon with messages of hope. The ribbon will be displayed in the Piedmont Athens Regional Breast Surgery offices to inspire patients, visitors, staff and others who visit the offices.
Guests are encouraged to dress comfortably and wear pink as the community garden is transformed into a celebration of hope, resilience and community support.
The event is free, but RSVPs are requested by Friday, Sept. 25. To RSVP, email [email protected] or call 706-475-7025. Free parking will be available at the Medical Services Building, 242 King Ave., located next to the garden.
