Portia Navarro Appointed Supervisor at Douglass Community Center

The City of Key West is pleased to announce the appointment of Portia Navarro as the Supervisor of the Frederick Douglass Community Center. Portia joined the City of Key West in January 2003 as the secretary for Key West Bight and Port & Transit Authority and transferred to the City Clerk's Office in 2006 as the Records Coordinator. In 2006, Portia transferred to the City Manager's Office as the Executive Administrator for the Assistant City Manager, John Jones.

In her new position, Portia will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Frederick Douglass Community Center, reception area, managing a team of receptionists, ensuring visitors receive a professional and courteous welcome, directing inquiries to the appropriate departments, handling administrative tasks, and maintaining a smooth flow of communication within the Frederick Douglass Community Center, all while upholding high standards of customer service and compliance with City policies.

Portia's future for the Center will be to offer social activities for the community, for example, bingo games for the elderly, Monday night movies, and when Monday night football begins, the movie night will be transferred to Thursday night theater. Maybe throw in some karaoke. Portia so looks forward to engaging the community in social events and activities, creating a friendly community atmosphere to be enjoyed by everyone.
