UNESCO launches the second edition of its course on digital citizenship and artificial intelligence following the success of its first call

This new edition not only responds to the high demand from the Latin American educational community but also marks a milestone in the global expansion of the initiative with the launch of its English version, allowing teachers and specialists from other regions to join the conversation. Classes in both languages will begin on June 15, 2026.

In a context marked by the rapid expansion of artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technologies, the course proposes a reflection on the central role of education in forming a critical, responsible citizenry committed to democratic values. Far from conceiving AI solely as a pedagogical tool, the proposal invites participants to understand how algorithms work, their impact on daily life, and the ethical, social, and educational challenges they pose.

Aimed especially at teachers, educational teams, and social actors, the MOOC offers a comprehensive approach to digital citizenship, addressing key topics such as digital footprint, disinformation, information bubbles, the ethical use of AI, coexistence in digital environments, the protection of rights, and democratic participation.
