Persimmon Homes West Scotland supports upgrades at Muirhead school.
St Barbara's Primary School in Muirhead has received a £5,000 donation from Persimmon Homes West Scotland as part of the homebuilder's Community Champions initiative.
North Lanarkshire Council Leader, Cllr Jim Logue, joined Persimmon's Land Director Craig Moore and local parent and Persimmon Customer Care Office Manager Claire Eadie - whose daughter attends the school - to present the cheque.
The funding will support a series of planned improvements around the school, with the Parent Teacher Association having previously begun fundraising for the upgrades.
The primary school sits just along the road from Persimmon's Royale Meadows development, where the five-star builder is delivering 292 new energy-efficient homes. Several new residents are already sending their children to St Barbara's, strengthening links between the growing community and the school.
The donation follows Persimmon Homes West Scotland being named Best Health and Safety in the Community at the Homebuilder Safety Awards, recognition that stemmed from a recent visit to St Barbara's to help raise awareness among pupils of health and safety around construction sites.
Craig Moore, Land Director at Persimmon Homes West Scotland, said:
"We're delighted to support St Barbara's Primary with this £5,000 donation. As a close neighbour to our Royale Meadows development, the school plays a vital role in the community we are helping to grow, and we're pleased this funding will make a real difference to improvements parents and staff have been working hard to deliver."
Cllr Jim Logue, Leader of North Lanarkshire Council, said:
"This kind of support makes a real difference locally and is a significant boost for the school that will help enhance the environment for children and families in Muirhead.
It's great to see local investment benefiting the community directly, and this donation will have a positive and lasting benefit for pupils and staff at St Barbara's."
Claire Eadie, Customer Care Office Manager at Persimmon and St Barbara's parent, added:
"As both a parent and an employee, I'm thrilled Persimmon is able to support the school. The improvements planned will benefit the children for years to come, and it's great to see our Community Champions initiative making such a positive impact locally."
