Davis tapped to serve on state nutrition panel

Jan. 12, 2026 -Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has appointed Kathleen Davis, PhD, to the Texas Nutrition Advisory Committee for a term that expires on Sept. 1, 2029.

The committee develops nutritional guidelines for Texas residents.

Davis will be among seven members serving on the committee.

Davis is an associate professor at TWU's Nutrition and Food Sciences Department. She is a registered dietitian whose research focuses on the prevention and treatment of pediatric obesity. Prior to her work in academia, Davis had extensive experience in clinical and community nutrition, particularly in infant clinical nutrition. Davis earned her bachelor's, master's and PhD from Texas Woman's.

She is a member of the Society for Nutrition Education and Behavior, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, the Texas Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, the Academy's Nutrition and Dietetics Educators and Preceptors, Pediatric Nutrition Practice Group, and the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition.
