Climate change poses an existential threat to the planet and to humanity's future. This threat must be met head on, quickly and comprehensively. Congressman Goldman is working to obtain federal investment for more and better public transportation, electrification, alternative energy, and supporting climate resiliency efforts across NY-10. Over the coming decades, the most severe risks to peace and security across the globe will be driven by the symptoms of climate change - drought, famine, food and resource shortages, refugee crises and other migration events, as well as severe natural disasters. Addressing climate change at home and abroad must be central to America's national security.
Congressman Goldman has introduced:
Homeland Security Climate Change Coordination Act to codify the current efforts of the Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) Climate Action Group by permanently authorizing a 'Climate Coordinating Council.'
Congressman Goldman is a member of the Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition (SEEC).
