MIAMI, Fla.-On a day long awaited by Florida's Cuban exiles, Senator Ashley Moody along with Acting Attorney General of the United States Todd Blanche unsealed the indictment against Raul Castro, brother of Fidel Castro and former leader of the Cuban Communist regime. Castro is charged with murder and conspiracy to kill U.S. Nationals for involvement in the 1996 Brothers to the Rescue murders.
Senator Moody is a fierce supporter of a free Cuba and has introduced legislation to cut off the regime's corrupt revenue streams:
"Today's indictment is a rightful step toward justice. This represents a resounding message that Cuban communism is not welcome in the Free State of Florida. For decades, the families and victims of the Cuban American community have waited for accountability for the terror inflicted by the Castros, especially regarding the Brothers to the Rescue murders. The voices of freedom-loving Cubans have been heard, I am thankful to work alongside Acting Attorney General Blanche, Florida Attorney General Uthmeier, and everyone who played a role in bringing this indictment forward," said Senator Ashley Moody.
