Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Chinese Embassy in Cyprus Zhou Yunliang Attends the Closing Ceremony of the Chinese Film Week in Cyprus

On June 15, the closing ceremony of the Chinese Film Week in Cyprus was successfully held.

The event was attended by around 200 participants, including Mr Zhou Yunliang, Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the Chinese Embassy in Cyprus, Mr Mao Yu, Executive Deputy Director-General of China Film Administration, Mr Giorgos Papageorgiou, Permanent Secretary of the Deputy Ministry of Culture of Cyprus, Mr. Panicos Stavrou, Deputy Chief of Police of Cyprus, as well as representatives from various sectors of Cypriot society, diplomatic corps, and the Chinese community in Cyprus.

Chargé d'Affaires Zhou noted that the Film Week, held on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of China-Cyprus diplomatic relations, has helped promote inter-civilization dialogue and enrich the strategic partnership between the two countries.

Executive Deputy Director-General Mao elaborated on the steady development of China's film industry and expressed willingness to further strengthen film exchanges with Cyprus.

Permanent Secretary Papageorgiou said that the Film Week has enhanced people-to-people ties and laid a solid foundation for expanding cultural cooperation between the two countries.

The audience then watched the closing film Blades of the Guardians: Wind Rises in the Desert and had interactions with its producer and leading actor Mr Wu Jing and leading actress Ms Chen Lijun. The atmosphere was lively and enthusiastic, with one highlight following another.

A total of seven Chinese films were screened during the Film Week, presenting a multidimensional, vivid, and authentic image of China. The event has received wide coverage from the local media and high recognition from the local audience.
